Rome, 16 November (LaPresse) – An appeal to ‘Heads of State and Leaders of Nations to listen to the cry of the poorest’. This was made by Pope Leo XIV during his homily at the Mass for the Jubilee of the Poor. ‘There can be no peace without justice, and the poor remind us of this in many ways, with their migration as well as with their cry, so often stifled by the myth of well-being and progress that does not take everyone into account, and indeed forgets many creatures, leaving them to their fate,’ added the Pope, who then expressed ‘to those who work in charity, to the many volunteers, to those who are concerned with alleviating the conditions of the poorest’ his ‘gratitude and at the same time my encouragement to be ever more critical conscience in society.’
