Washington, Nov. 26 (LaPresse) – U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff advised Yuri Ushakov, Vladimir Putin’s top foreign policy adviser, on how the Russian leader should address the Ukraine issue with Donald Trump. Bloomberg reports that his guidance included suggestions on how to arrange a Trump–Putin call before Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to the White House and on how to use the Gaza agreement as an access point. According to a recording of the conversation reviewed and transcribed by Bloomberg, Witkoff told his Russian counterpart that he had deep respect for Putin and that he had told Trump he believed Moscow had always sought a peace agreement. The U.S. envoy mentioned Zelensky’s upcoming visit and suggested that Putin could speak with Trump before that meeting. Witkoff also recommended that Putin congratulate Trump on the Gaza peace deal, say that Russia supported it, and show respect for the president as a man of peace.
