Australia: shark kills woman and injures man who was swimming with her

Melbourne (Australia), 27 Nov. (LaPresse) – A shark killed a woman and seriously injured a man who was swimming with her off the east coast of Australia. The attack took place in Crowdy Bay National Park, known for its beach camping, fishing spots and hiking trails, about 360 kilometres north of Sydney. Beaches in the area have been closed to swimmers indefinitely. Emergency services were called to Kylies Beach after reports at 6.30 a.m. (8.30 p.m. on Wednesday in Italy) that two people aged around 25 had been bitten by a shark. A passer-by helped the couple on the beach before the ambulance arrived, but the woman died at the scene before help arrived. The man was airlifted to hospital in a serious but stable condition. According to media reports, they were European tourists.
