Pope Leo XIV departs for trip to Turkey

Milan, 27 November (LaPresse) – Pope Leo XIV's first international apostolic journey began this morning, taking him to Turkey and Lebanon with a pilgrimage to Iznik (Turkey) on the occasion of the 1700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea. Shortly after 7 a.m., the Holy Father travelled by car to Rome-Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, from where he departed at 7:58 a.m. on board an A320neo/Ita Airways flight to Ankara. The landing at Ankara-Esenboga International Airport is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
