Ukraine: letter from seven EU leaders approves loan on Russian assets

Brussels, 8 December (LaPresse) – The leaders of seven EU countries (Estonia, Finland, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Sweden) have written a letter to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa in support of the proposal for a reparation loan for Ukraine on frozen Russian assets. 'Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, Europe has been steadfast in its support for Ukraine. We do so because it is the morally right thing to do, but also because Russia's imperialistic ambitions threaten European security beyond Ukraine. Therefore, Ukraine is also fighting for our freedom and our values. We are committed to finding solid long-term support that will strengthen Ukraine," the letter reads.
