Turin, Dec. 19 (LaPresse) – Today’s meeting between Israel and Lebanon in the Lebanese border town of Naqoura examined “ways to promote economic initiatives in order to demonstrate the mutual interest in eliminating the threat posed by Hezbollah and ensuring sustainable security for residents on both sides of the border.” This was stated in a declaration by the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, quoted by The Times of Israel. The meeting was the second direct encounter between the two states under the auspices of the United States and France in the past month and represents “a continuation of the security dialogue aimed at ensuring the disarmament of Hezbollah by the Lebanese armed forces,” the statement said. According to the prime minister’s office, Israel was represented by Yosef Draznin, deputy head of the National Security Council for foreign policy.
