Turin, 25 December (LaPresse) – Russian Tu-95MS strategic bombers carried out a planned flight over neutral waters in the Barents Sea and the Norwegian Sea and were escorted by foreign fighter jets at certain points. This was reported by the Moscow Ministry of Defence, as quoted by Russian news agencies. ‘The flight lasted more than seven hours. At certain stages of the route, the bombers were escorted by fighter jets from foreign countries,’ it explained. ‘All flights by Russian Aerospace Forces aircraft are carried out in strict compliance with international airspace regulations,’ the ministry stressed. ‘The crews of long-range aircraft regularly fly over the neutral waters of the Arctic, North Atlantic, Pacific Ocean, Baltic Sea and Black Sea.’
