North Korea launches ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan

Seoul (South Korea), 4 January (LaPresse/AP) – North Korea launched several ballistic missiles into its eastern waters on Sunday morning, a few hours before the South Korean president's departure for an official visit to China. According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Seoul, the missiles were launched from the North Korean capital region and travelled approximately 900 kilometres. South Korea, the United States and Japan are analysing the details of the tests. Tokyo has called the launches a serious threat to regional and global security.
