Iran, Tehran at the UN: ‘US and Israel responsible for civilian deaths’

Rome, 14 January (LaPresse) – Iran asks the UN to urge the United States and Israel to abandon their destabilising policy against Tehran. This was stated by the Iranian permanent representative to the United Nations, Amir-Saeid Iravani. The Islamic Republic of Iran urgently calls on the Secretary-General, the Security Council and, in particular, its responsible members to fulfil their responsibilities under the Charter by unequivocally condemning all forms of incitement to violence, threats of the use of force and interference in Iran's internal affairs by the United States; urges the United States and the Israeli regime to immediately cease their destabilising policies and practices and to fully comply with their obligations under international law; and warns the United States against any miscalculation in conducting acts of military aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran," Iravani noted in a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and UN Security Council President Abukar Dahir Osman. ‘The United States and the Israeli regime have a direct and undeniable legal responsibility for the resulting loss of innocent civilian lives, particularly among young people,’ the Iranian envoy added.
