Milan, 20 January (LaPresse/AP) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has condemned Denmark's control over Greenland, stressing that it has its roots in the colonial past. ‘In principle, Greenland is not a natural part of Denmark,’ Lavrov said at a press conference in Moscow, describing the island as a ‘colonial conquest.’ Lavrov also described Trump's attempt to acquire control of Greenland as an existential challenge to NATO that would seriously test its integrity. The Russian foreign minister also strongly denied any intention on the part of Russia and China to threaten Greenland, as suggested by Trump.
