Cuba: WSJ, US aims to overthrow regime by end of year

Milan, Jan. 22 (LaPresse) – Encouraged by the United States' dismissal of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, the Trump administration is seeking members of the Cuban government who can help conclude an agreement to overthrow the communist regime by the end of the year. This was reported to the Wall Street Journal by people familiar with the matter, according to whom the Trump administration has assessed that the Cuban economy is close to collapse and that the government has never been so fragile. Officials do not have a concrete plan to end the communist government that has held power on the Caribbean island for nearly 70 years, but they view Maduro's capture and the subsequent concessions of his remaining allies as a model and a warning to Cuba.
