Tucson (Arizona, USA), 5 February (LaPresse/AP) – Savannah Guthrie, host of NBC's “Today” television programme, has sent a public message to the kidnapper of her 84-year-old mother, stating that her family is willing to negotiate but wants proof that she is still alive. In a video posted on social media, Guthrie said her family learned from the media about the ransom demand for Nancy Guthrie, who authorities say was abducted from her home in Arizona. ‘We are ready to talk. However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated,’ the presenter said, reading a statement. "We need to know without a shadow of a doubt that she is alive and that you are holding her hostage. We want to hear from you and we are ready to listen. Please contact us." The elderly woman was last seen around 9:45 p.m. on Saturday when she was driven home by her family after having dinner with them. Her disappearance was reported at noon on Sunday after she failed to show up at church.
