Washington (USA), Feb. 12 (LaPresse) – About 6 in 10 people in the United States say that President Donald Trump has "gone too far" in sending ICE agents into American cities, according to a new AP-NORC poll suggesting that people who do not identify with a specific political party are increasingly uncomfortable with his methods. Opinions on Trump’s handling of immigration — which declined over the first year of his term — have remained stable over the past month, with about 4 in 10 approving of the president’s approach. But the poll also found that the Republican Party’s advantage on Trump’s key issue has narrowed since October. About 3 in 10 adults in the United States trust Republicans to better handle immigration, while a similar share say the same about Democrats. Another roughly 3 in 10 do not think either party would do a better job on the issue, and about 1 in 10 say both parties would handle it in the same way. The president’s core supporters remain strongly in favor of Trump’s methods on immigration management.
