Frankfurt (Germany), 20 February (LaPresse) – "There is great harmony between Italy and Germany, a shared vision that allows us to work together to build a stronger Europe. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on the sidelines of the CDU congress in Stuttgart. ‘We want to ensure that the document signed jointly by Italy and Germany becomes the political document for the competitiveness of the whole of Europe,’ added Tajani, emphasising the convergence on industrial policy, the Green Deal, the automotive sector and the reduction of bureaucracy. The head of the Foreign Ministry reiterated that the European Union must be ‘the main ally of the United States, but it must stand on its own two feet,’ investing more in security and defence and strengthening the second pillar of NATO to be ‘allies that matter in a stronger Europe, a protagonist in the world.’ ‘We are still the same. We have a historic relationship with Germany,’ Tajani said, recalling the founding fathers of Europe, Konrad Adenauer and Alcide De Gasperi, as well as Robert Schuman.
