Milan, Feb. 22 (LaPresse) – “The European Commission calls for full clarity on the measures that the United States intends to adopt following the recent ruling of the Supreme Court of the United States” on tariffs. This was stated in a note released by the EU executive, urging the U.S. to respect the agreements. “The current situation does not favour the realisation of ‘fair, balanced and mutually beneficial’ transatlantic trade and investment exchanges, as agreed by both parties and specified in the EU–U.S. joint declaration of August 2025,” the Commission wrote, stressing that “the Commission will always ensure the full protection of the interests of the European Union” and that “EU companies and exporters must be able to rely on fair treatment, predictability and legal certainty.” “An agreement is an agreement. As the United States’ main trading partner, the EU expects the United States to honour the commitments made in the joint declaration, just as the EU upholds its own commitments,” the statement added.
