Brussels, 19 March (LaPresse) – The European Parliament’s Committee on International Trade has voted by a large majority in favour of the controversial EU-US tariff agreement signed in Turnberry at the end of July. Out of 39 voters, 29 voted in favour, 9 against and 1 abstained. The text must now be put to a vote in the plenary session. “A large majority for a strong, united position by the EP on the implementation of the EU-US agreement. Thank you for your support! Our message: We will not take any final decision without clarity. We will remain in the driving seat and have the final say on implementation. The main shortcomings of the European Commission’s proposal have also been addressed,” writes Inta Committee Chair Bernd Lange on social media.
