Cuba, two ships with humanitarian aid believed lost arrive on the island

Havana (Cuba), Mar 29 (LaPresse) – Two sailboats that had gone missing while transporting humanitarian aid from southern Mexico to Cuba arrived in Havana on Saturday afternoon, a few hours after the Mexican navy said it had located them days after they had lost contact due to bad weather. The vessels, carrying at least eight people on board, had departed from Isla Mujeres, in southern Mexico, on March 20 and then lost contact, raising concern in Mexico and Cuba. Once on the island, Adnaan Stumo, coordinator of the sailboat convoy, said that bad weather was responsible for the delay, thanking the Mexican navy for the support and for ensuring they were safe, adding that they were “happy” to begin delivering aid to Cubans on the island.
