Iran: Two participants in January protests executed

Milan, 5 April (LaPresse/AP) – Mizan Online, the news outlet of the Iranian judiciary, has reported that two alleged participants in last January’s demonstrations in the country, Mohammad Ami Biglari and Shahin Vahedparast, have been convicted of taking part in an attack on a military facility, specifically for setting it on fire and attempting to reach the weapons depot. According to Mizan Online, the two men were hanged after the country’s Supreme Court upheld the death sentence handed down by a lower court. The nationwide crackdown on protests has resulted in the deaths of thousands of people and the arrest of just as many.
