Iran: Tehran media report that negotiations are on hold until attacks in Lebanon cease

Milan, 10 Apr. (LaPresse) – Until the US honours its commitment to a ceasefire in Lebanon and Israel ceases its attacks, the negotiations scheduled for tomorrow in Pakistan remain on hold. This was stated by a well-informed source quoted by the Iranian news agency Tasnim, which is close to the Revolutionary Guards, adding that ‘reports in some media outlets claiming that the Iranian negotiating team has arrived in Islamabad to negotiate with the Americans are completely false’. Furthermore, the Iranian news agency Mehr quotes the Fars agency, also close to the Pasdaran, which attributes to a well-informed source the statement that “negotiations remain suspended until the United States honours its commitments regarding the ceasefire in Lebanon and the Israeli regime ceases its attacks”. Al-Jazeera also reports something similar: it quotes Abas Aslani, a senior researcher at the Iran-based Centre for Strategic Studies on the Middle East, who states that the Iranian delegation has not yet left for the talks with the US scheduled for this weekend in Pakistan due to the Israeli attacks in Lebanon, and that “the Iranian delegation has not left Tehran because the Iranian side maintains that, as long as Israeli attacks against Lebanon continue, there will be no negotiations in Islamabad”.
