Iran, NYT: "Hormuz not reopening because Tehran cannot locate all mines"

New York (USA), Apr. 11 (LaPresse) – Iran is unable to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic because it cannot identify and remove all the mines placed during the war. US officials told the New York Times. According to the sources, even the routes considered safe, indicated by the Revolutionary Guards, remain limited due to a disorganized placement of the explosives. Some mines are also drifting, and it is not clear whether Tehran has precisely tracked their location. The report highlights that neither the United States nor Iran fully has the capabilities to clear the area. Washington said the strait was reopened on Wednesday, denying delays and tolls, while President Donald Trump in recent days accused Tehran of blocking traffic, threatening retaliation. Iran stated that it will continue to obstruct the passage of ships until Israel stops its attacks against Hezbollah in Lebanon, which it considers part of the ceasefire. The United States calls it a "misunderstanding" and reiterates that Lebanon is not part of the truce.
