Iran: Trump warns China: ‘50% tariffs if they supply arms to Tehran’

Rome, 12 April (LaPresse/AP) – US President Donald Trump has reiterated that his threat to impose 50% tariffs on goods from countries that have sold arms to Iran was directed at China. Trump told Fox News’ ‘Sunday Morning Futures’ that he had received reports that China had supplied Iran with ‘shoulder-fired’ anti-aircraft missiles. He played down the possibility of China supplying arms to Tehran, but said that, should this happen, their goods would be subject to tariffs. “I doubt they would do that, because I have a relationship with them and I don’t think they would, but perhaps they hinted at it a little bit at the start,” Trump said. “But if we catch them in the act, they’ll face a 50% tariff.”
