Madrid (Spain), 14 Apr. (LaPresse) – Chinese President Xi Jinping received Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez in Beijing, at the Great Hall of the People. The news was reported by the Chinese news agency Xinhua. The Spanish leader is in China on an official visit. This is his fourth trip to the country in less than four years and comes at a turbulent political moment, amidst heightened tensions between Spain and the United States and Israel. Yesterday, in a speech delivered at Tsinghua University, Sanchez called on Beijing for ‘greater involvement’, demanding respect for international law and an end to the conflicts in Ukraine, Lebanon and Iran.
