Iran: media reports suggest Tehran will give priority in the Strait of Hormuz to ships that pay

Milan, 18 Apr. (LaPresse) – ‘Given the limit on the number of ships authorised to transit, Iran has decided to give priority to those ships that comply most quickly with the new protocols for the Strait of Hormuz and that cover the costs of security services’. A senior Iranian official told CNN today. The passage of ships that do not pay will be ‘postponed’, added the official, who described the prioritisation measure as part of Iran’s efforts to manage maritime traffic ‘in light of the new order governing this strait’.
