Turin, April 18 (LaPresse) – Israel will impose in Lebanon the so-called “yellow line,” preventing residents from returning to areas occupied by the Israeli army. This was reported by CNN citing senior officials from the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). The measure has already been used in the Gaza Strip, where the so-called “yellow line” marks an area occupied by the Israeli army under the ceasefire agreement that ended the two-year war, and is inaccessible to residents. “The Gaza ‘yellow line’ model will also be replicated in Lebanon, and the IDF have already defined a ‘yellow line’ within which Israeli forces are currently operating,” senior IDF officials told journalists during a briefing on Saturday. Residents will not be allowed to return to the 55 Lebanese villages within the area, the officials said. “The IDF are authorized to continue destroying terrorist infrastructure in that area even during the ceasefire,” they added. Some residents of southern Lebanon have begun returning home following the entry into force of the ceasefire in the country.
