Carlo and Camilla were received at the White House by Donald Trump and Melania

Washington (USA), 28 April (LaPresse) – King Charles and Queen Camilla have arrived at the White House, where they were received by President Trump and First Lady Melania. After the customary photographs on the South Portico of the White House, the two couples entered the presidential residence for tea. This is the first time a reigning British monarch has visited the White House since Queen Elizabeth in 2007, during George W. Bush’s presidency. This afternoon’s programme has been kept light: later, the Trumps will accompany the royal couple on a brief visit to the White House beehives. This is a tribute to King Charles’s long-standing commitment to environmental protection. The King and Queen will then attend a garden party at the British Ambassador’s residence on Massachusetts Avenue, near the US Vice-President’s residence. Tomorrow morning, Charles and Camilla will receive an official welcome at the White House with full ceremonial honours.
