Milan, 4 May (LaPresse) – "To date, no official appeal has been received from Ukraine regarding the terms for a cessation of hostilities, contrary to what is being claimed on Russian social media. We believe that human life is worth far more than any anniversary ‘celebration’. In this regard, we are announcing a ceasefire starting at midnight between 5 and 6 May.” This was written on X by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, after Moscow announced a ceasefire for 8 and 9 May to mark Victory Day. ‘In the time leading up to that moment, it is realistic to ensure that the silence takes effect. From that moment onwards, we will act in kind. It is time for Russian leaders to take concrete action to end the war, especially given that the Russian Ministry of Defence believes it cannot organise a parade in Moscow without Ukraine’s goodwill,’ he added.
