Iran, Tajani: ‘Ready to take part in an international mine-clearing mission following a ceasefire’

Rome, 8 May (LaPresse) – Italy has offered to take part in international missions in the Strait of Hormuz ‘once a ceasefire has been reached’ by sending ‘mine-sweeping vessels’. This was stated by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on Cinque Minuti, airing this evening on Rai 1. The Foreign Minister explained that the minesweepers could first be deployed “in the Red Sea, where the Aspides mission – the Italian-led European mission – is based” and then, “should a decision be made to participate in the international mission”, they could be “transferred to the Strait of Hormuz”.
