Hantavirus, WHO director in Tenerife for cruise ship arrival

Milan, May 9 (LaPresse) – Spain’s Health Minister Mónica García, Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska, and World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus will travel today to Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, to supervise and coordinate the arrival at the port of Granadilla of the cruise ship “MV Hondius”, affected by an outbreak of hantavirus. This was reported by El Mundo. The delegation will depart at 6 p.m. and will monitor the situation live from the command post set up to “ensure coordination between administrations”, as well as “health control and the application of surveillance and response protocols”, as stated yesterday by the Spanish Health Ministry.
