Rome, 20 May (LaPresse) – Chinese leader Xi Jinping has stated that today’s world is far from peaceful, with unilateralism and hegemony posing serious threats, bringing the international order “dangerously close to a return to a ‘law of the jungle’-style struggle for power and dominance”. This is reported by the South China Morning Post, citing the Chinese president’s remarks during his meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. The Chinese president also states that “China and Russia must firmly shoulder the responsibilities of major nations, uphold the authority of the United Nations and the principles of international fairness and justice, and oppose all forms of unilateral bullying and any attempts to rewrite history”. Xi added that this includes opposing any initiative that denies the outcomes of the Second World War or seeks to rehabilitate fascism and militarism.
