Flotilla: Ben-Gvir among handcuffed and blindfolded activists: ‘Welcome to Israel’

Milan, 20 May (LaPresse) – Israel’s Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, visited the port of Ashdod, where activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla are being held after being detained between yesterday and Monday whilst sailing towards Gaza. In footage shared by the minister on his X profile, he is seen walking amongst those detained, who are on the ground, handcuffed and blindfolded, and shouting: ‘Welcome to Israel, we are the owners of this house’. In another video, an activist is seen approaching the minister and being restrained on the ground by Shin Bet agents. He is also seen telling one of the activists “Am Yisrael Chai” (I am Israel), with the word “Hatikva” (Long live!) in the background. “They came here full of pride; look at the state they’re in now,” Ben Gvir then stated, “they’re no heroes or anything; they’re supporters of terrorism. I’m asking Netanyahu to hand them over to me to be held for a long time in anti-terrorism prisons.”
