Maldives, Malé: ‘Italy has given the go-ahead to share autopsy results’

Colombo (Sri Lanka), 23 May (LaPresse) – Italy has agreed to share any findings from the post-mortem examinations of the bodies of the five divers who died in the Maldives whilst diving. This was reported by the spokesperson for the President of the Maldives, Mohamed Hussain Shareef, who added that two investigations have been launched: one into the deaths of the five Italian divers and the other to clarify the circumstances surrounding the death of Mohamed Mahudhee, the Maldivian military diver who died during an initial attempt to recover the bodies. Operations were suspended following Mahudhee’s death. The bodies were subsequently recovered in a high-risk operation led by a team of three Finnish divers specialising in deep-sea and cave diving.
