Milan, 24 May (LaPresse) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed concern to US President Donald Trump over two specific points in the agreement currently being finalised with Iran: namely, the postponement of nuclear negotiations to a later date and the fact that the ceasefire in Iran would be linked to that in Lebanon. This is according to Israeli broadcaster Kan, citing sources. According to Axios, the memorandum of understanding currently under discussion would introduce a 60-day extension of the ceasefire and contain a clause that would also bring an end to fighting in Lebanon. ‘Netanyahu believes, as does the Israeli security establishment, that the Iranians are stalling for time and that in another 60 days the problem of Iranian intransigence will resurface,’ reports Kan, citing a source who claims that the postponement of the nuclear talks implies that ‘the possibility of an attack on Iran in the near future, which Prime Minister Netanyahu has insisted upon, is out of the question’ . According to the Israeli broadcaster, the fact that Iran has reportedly agreed to move its stocks of highly enriched uranium out of its territory is a very important point for Israel.
