Middle East, IDF: "11 km of underground tunnels destroyed in northern Gaza"

Milan, May 26 (LaPresse) – The Israel Defense Forces have completed the destruction, in the Beit Hanoun area in the northern Gaza Strip, of approximately 11 kilometres of underground tunnels. This was reported by Ynet. In recent months, Israeli troops have operated in the area and, according to the IDF, "have destroyed terrorist infrastructure both above and below ground". The Defense Forces spokesperson announced that the area had served for years as "a central stronghold of Hamas terrorism, where the organization’s terrorists operated from terrorist infrastructure embedded within the heart of the civilian population".
