Romania, Bucharest declares Russian consul persona non grata following drone incident

Turin, May 29 (LaPresse) – Romanian President Nicusor Dan announced that authorities in Bucharest have decided to declare the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Constanta “persona non grata” and to close the Russian Consulate General, following a Russian drone incursion that struck an apartment building in Galati, injuring two citizens. Local media reported the news. “Last night, a serious incident occurred in which two Romanian citizens were injured, and full responsibility for this incident lies with Russia, a country that has been waging a war of aggression against Ukraine for over four years,” Dan stated, announcing the diplomatic measures taken by Bucharest against Moscow. “In light of this situation, the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Constanta has been declared persona non grata, and the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Constanta will be closed,” the president stated.
