Ukraine, Russia: ‘Kiev drone struck Zaporizhzhia power plant; it was a targeted attack’

Milan, 30 May (LaPresse) – The CEO of the Russian nuclear energy company Rosatom, Alexey Likhachev, has reported that a Ukrainian combat drone struck the turbine hall of Unit 6 at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant this afternoon and claimed that it was a targeted attack. This was reported by the Russian news agency TASS. "This afternoon, a Ukrainian combat drone struck the turbine hall of Unit 6, causing a subsequent explosion. The explosion did not damage the main equipment, but created a hole in the wall of the turbine hall,‘ said Likhachev, who added that ’it is noteworthy that the drone was controlled via fibre optics‘ and that this ’completely rules out the possibility of an accidental impact".
