Rome, 10 June (LaPresse) – In a letter sent to the La Fenice Foundation in Venice, conductor Beatrice Venezi has challenged the decision to terminate her working relationship with La Fenice, where she was due to become musical director. In the certified email signed by Venezi and her lawyers Maria Cristina Lanero and Francesco Andretta, a copy of which LaPresse has seen, the conductor recalls having learnt from the national media of the statements made by superintendent Nicola Colabianchi, “acting on behalf of the Fondazione Teatro ‘ La Fenice’ in Venice, had declared, expressing his firm intention, that he did not wish to continue the employment relationship established by a contract for coordinated and continuous collaboration, running from 1 October 2026 to 5 March 2030, due to alleged and categorical ‘statements’, which were in no way specified, made by Maestro Beatrice Venezi to an unspecified and unidentifiable ‘international press’ and that, as a result of these alleged and unspecified statements, the Foundation’s image had been damaged”. Venezi therefore announces her challenge to the “aforementioned termination and/or employer’s withdrawal as null and void, unlawful, ineffective and discriminatory and, at the same time, confirms that – in accordance with the contractual commitment undertaken – she intends to continue to make her energy and professional artistic services available to the Foundation and to carry out all the professional, organisational and productive activities that are preliminary and essential to the employment relationship entered into between the parties, despite the numerous obstructive measures implemented to date by senior management with the aim of limiting and preventing the performance of said work. In view of the above, we reserve the right to take whatever measures are deemed most appropriate and prudent to protect the rights and interests of our client."
