Milan, Jan 27 (LaPresse) – Wall Street opened sharply lower following heavy selling on technology stocks in the pre-market after Chinese artificial intelligence startup DeepSeek demonstrated a chatbot it claims can compete with top versions of OpenAI and Google at a fraction of the cost. The Nasdaq lost 3.57% to 19,242.11 points, the S&P 500 2.09% to 5,974 points, and the Dow Jones 0.9% to 44,026.27 points. Nvidia plummeted 12.67% and chip producer Broadcom lost 14.09%. Strong sales also on Microsoft (-4.26%), Oracle (-7.92%), Alphabet (-3.72%) and Meta (-2.12%).
