Milan, 24 May (LaPresse) – Donald Trump's threat to impose 50% tariffs on the European Union from 1 June stems from growing frustration on the part of the White House economic team over the different approaches of the 27 countries on fiscal, regulatory and relations with China issues. This was reported by the Wall Street Journal, based on information from people close to the dossier. Trump's advisers, the WSJ points out, have privately expressed their irritation to European officials about how the different trade priorities of EU member states have slowed down the talks, which have been characterised by a cautious approach on the part of the 27, as well as an inability to respond to the issues raised by Washington.
