Rome, 29 May (LaPresse) – 80% of companies are concerned and fearful about the current geopolitical tensions, new tariffs and changes to US tariffs, but also the response often seen from other countries. This is what emerges from the results released today in the 174th edition of Federmeccanica's economic survey on the Italian metalworking and mechatronics industry. According to the survey, the main concerns relate to the consequences for companies should further protectionist measures be introduced. Specifically, concerns include losing export market share (27% of cases); encountering difficulties in supply chains (24%); and increased competitive pressure on the European market due to the potential redirection of products no longer fully absorbed by the US market (23%). In 20% of cases, there are fears of a loss of competitiveness, and in 6% of the remaining responses, other consequences were reported (increased energy/raw material costs, uncertainty/weakening of markets, etc.).
