Milan, 10 June (LaPresse) – In April 2025, the seasonally adjusted industrial production index is estimated to have increased by 1.0% compared to March. The average for the February-April period shows a 0.4% increase in production compared to the previous three months. The seasonally adjusted monthly index increased on a monthly basis for consumer goods (+1.8%), capital goods (+0.8%) and intermediate goods (+0.2%); energy remained stable. This was reported by Istat. Net of calendar effects, in April 2025, the general index increased by 0.3% in trend terms (there were 20 working days in April 2024). Trend increases were recorded for energy (+1.8%) and consumer goods (+1.1%); on the other hand, intermediate goods (-0.4%) and capital goods (-0.7%) declined. The economic sectors recording the highest year-on-year increases were wood, paper and printing (+4.7%), electricity, gas, steam and air supply (+4.3%) and computer and electronic product manufacturing (+3.3%). The largest declines were recorded in the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (-11.0%), the manufacture of transport equipment (-9.5%) and the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (-5.0%).
