Milan, June 18 (LaPresse) – “The strategy of the U.S. administration seems somewhat irrational. However, I am used to trying to attribute rationality to behaviors, and one way to explain what is happening in the trade field is to bring everything back to the logic of competition between the U.S. economy and its main competitor, China.
I believe it is obvious to everyone that in the future the Chinese economy will become the world’s leading economic power, and the competition will likely be between the United States and China.
Now, I think the attempt by the U.S. administration that we are witnessing is to limit China’s international influence. And they are pursuing this goal by trying to break the very close relationship that has developed over recent years, with the sanctions, between China and Russia, because if we combine China’s industrial, technological, and financial power with Russia’s natural resources, it will be very difficult to compete with them.” This was stated by the Governor of the Bank of Italy, Fabio Panetta, at the Young Factor event: a dialogue between youth, economy, and finance promoted by the Osservatorio Permanente Giovani-Editori in partnership with Intesa Sanpaolo.
