Milan, June 23 (LaPresse) – On highways, gasoline prices at full service pumps have already surpassed the psychological threshold of €2.30 per liter at several stations, while at many self-service stations the price of unleaded fuel is dangerously approaching €2.00 per liter. This was reported by Codacons, which monitored data from fuel stations published on the official Mimit website. Codacons highlighted that fuel prices are rising even on highways, where prices are generally higher than in urban areas. For example, on the A4 Milan-Brescia highway, self-service gasoline sells at €2.389 per liter, diesel at €2.284. On the A21 Turin-Piacenza, unleaded fuel reaches €2.369/liter, diesel €2.289/liter. On the A1 Milan-Naples, self-service gasoline costs up to €2.349 per liter, diesel €2.249. Numerous highway stations now sell full-service gasoline above €2.20 per liter. For self-service, unleaded fuel prices are dangerously close to €2.00 per liter – as seen on the A5 Quincinetto-Turin where unleaded costs €1.999 per liter, diesel €1.966. On the A4 Venice-Trieste, self-service unleaded is €1.988/liter; on the A3 Salerno-Reggio Calabria, gasoline is sold up to €1.984/liter. These are not average prices, but peaks at certain highway stations which are cause for concern, warns Codacons. The price increases near the summer period risk hitting Italian holidays hard, increasing travel costs. The situation is worsened by threats like a possible closure of the Strait of Hormuz and speculative actions exploiting the Iran conflict to unjustifiably raise prices.
