Toronto (Canada), Aug 19 (LaPresse/AP) – The union representing Air Canada’s 10,000 flight attendants announced Tuesday morning that it had reached a tentative agreement to end the strike. Air Canada and the union resumed negotiations Monday evening for the first time since the strike began over the weekend. The strike is affecting approximately 130,000 travelers per day during the peak summer season. The union stated that the agreement will guarantee members pay for work performed while planes are grounded, resolving one of the main issues that led to the strike. This followed the union’s statement that flight attendants would not return to work even if the strike was declared illegal.
