Milan, 13 November (LaPresse) – Italy's economic well-being is worse than the European Union average. In 2024, the risk of poverty in Italy will be 18.9%, higher than the EU27 average (16.2%). This is according to the 2024 BES Report: Equitable and Sustainable Well-being in Italy. Net income inequality is also higher (5.5% in Italy vs. 4.7% in the EU27). However, the burden of housing costs puts Italy at an advantage, 3.1 percentage points below the European average (8.2%); this is also true for indicators relating to material and social deprivation and difficulty making ends meet.
