Rome, Nov. 21 (LaPresse) – For the additional 0.5% increase in IRAP on banks, "Antonio Tajani, who was present at the summit yesterday, said that since the two-point hike was the result of negotiations, new talks are required. We are against taxes on windfall profits. There needs to be a meeting and discussion." This was stated by Forza Italia group leader in the Chamber, Paolo Barelli, following yesterday's summit of center-right leaders on changes to the budget bill. "Forza Italia," explained Barelli, intercepted at Montecitorio, "is in favor of eliminating article 18, regarding the double taxation on company dividends. The repeal of IRAP for non-financial companies has already been achieved; now we'll see where the funds will be found. The contribution from banks and insurance companies was determined after a previous dialogue, and can be politically justified—for non-financial companies, no. And that, I think, has been achieved."
