Brussels, Dec. 9 (LaPresse) – The European Commission has approved an Italian state aid scheme of €1.5 billion to support strategic investments that increase the production capacity of clean technologies (cleantech), in line with the objectives of the Clean Industrial Deal. This measure will contribute to the transition to a net-zero economy. The scheme was approved under the Clean Industrial Deal State Aid Framework (CISAF), adopted by the Commission on June 25, 2025. The scheme will be co-financed by the Recovery and Resilience Fund.
The purpose of the scheme is to grant aid for investments that increase production capacity for the manufacture of net-zero emission technologies listed in Annex II of the CISAF, as well as for the production of the main specific components of these technologies. Under the scheme, aid will be provided in the form of grants, concessional loans, or a combination of both. The measure will be open to companies throughout Italy. Aid may be granted until December 31, 2030.
The Commission found that the Italian scheme complies with the conditions set out in the CISAF. In particular, the aid will incentivize the production of clean technologies and their main specific components. The Commission concluded that the Italian scheme is necessary, appropriate, and proportionate to accelerate the transition to a net-zero economy and to facilitate the development of certain economic activities, which are important for implementing the Clean Industrial Deal.
