Rome, 18 December (LaPresse) – The takeover bid for Mediobanca ‘was decided independently’ and the government, as a shareholder, took note of "the choices and their rationale. All the necessary discussions I had with representatives of the institutional and credit system were always aimed at creating the opportunity to establish structures suitable for ensuring a stable future for the institution, without any kind of interference or pressure on the actors or voting rights holders." This was stated by Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti in his report to the Chamber of Deputies.
