Rome, 9 March (LaPresse) – BYD is preparing to break down the last barriers to the widespread adoption of electric vehicles with its in-house developed Flash charging technology, capable of delivering up to 1500 kW through a single rectifier, and with the second generation of its Blade battery. Together, the two technologies guarantee extraordinary charging speeds, regardless of conditions. Charging from 10% to 70% takes only five minutes, while charging from 10% to 97% takes only nine minutes. Even at a temperature of -30°C, conditions that would normally result in a drastic reduction in speed, the FLASH charger is capable of charging a Blade 2.0 from 20% to 97% in just 12 minutes. The Blade can travel longer distances on a single charge; thanks to a 5% increase in energy density, it can achieve ranges of over 1,000 km (Chinese CLTC efficiency test). The new technologies are the result of intensive development work by BYD, following in-depth research into the barriers that consumers continue to perceive between themselves and purely electric mobility. Wang Chuanfu, BYD's chairman and chief executive, emphasised at a presentation in China that the industry must address the persistent challenge of slow charging speeds and poor charging performance at low temperatures if it wants to convert undecided consumers to electric mobility.
