Milan, 20 March (LaPresse) – The Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy has announced that, according to the latest data from the Mimit Fuel Price Observatory, at 8.00 am today almost 60% of petrol stations in Italy (12,107 outlets) had reduced their prices following the government’s cut in excise duties. A new survey is scheduled for this afternoon. All the major oil companies operating in the country have also adjusted their recommended prices, with a reduction of 24.4 euro cents per litre, in line with the measure adopted by the Council of Ministers. The average price of fuel recorded this morning at self-service stations on the national road network stands at €1.734 per litre for petrol and €1.978 per litre for diesel. On the motorway network, the average self-service price stands at €1.812 per litre for petrol and €2.048 per litre for diesel. The latest Mimit surveys also reveal that 11.4% of petrol stations, in addition to not yet having reduced prices in line with the excise duty cut, have actually increased their displayed prices: the Price Surveillance Authority has already forwarded the list of these petrol stations to the Guardia di Finanza so that the necessary checks can be carried out in accordance with the new special regime provided for by the decree-law approved by the Government. The results of the checks will also be forwarded to the Competition and Market Authority for the possible initiation of sanctioning proceedings and, in cases where criminal offences are identified, to the judicial authorities.
