Rome, 31 Mar. (LaPresse) – French cinema is in mourning for the death of director Yves Boisset at the age of 86 in the Franco-British hospital of Levallois-Perret, in Hauts-de-Seine, in the region of Ille de France. This was reported in Le Figaro. Boisset was considered one of the main authors of French political cinema and he himself, due to the topics he dealt with, defined himself as ‘the most censored director in France’. Among his most famous films are ‘Dupont Lajoie’ (‘Bloody Holiday’, 1975) on the subject of racism, and ‘L'attentato’ (1972), inspired by the true story of the Moroccan socialist politician Mehdi Ben Barka, with Gian Maria Volontè in the role of the protagonist Sadiel.
